Introducing Paw Print jewellery for dog lovers
Do you have pets? Or have you ever had the pleasure to have been owned by a pet?
That’s just how if feels at times we are owned by them but would we have it any other way?
I have embarked on some new pieces of pet keepsake jewellery to offer my clients and have obviously had to try out these to ensure that they meet my satisfaction.
I thought that it would be perfect to practice using my border collies’ paw prints as I really wanted to make some pendants for myself and my husband John.
I have all the correct pieces of equipment, have read up on what exactly to do so I was ready to embark on what I thought would be a simple task of capturing my dogs’ paw prints.
First I have to use some magic wipes that are safe to use on pets and humans, to ‘ink’ the paw and then put this paw on some extremely special and expensive paper.
I started with Dave our bigger border collie who is quite happy to have his paw
held.
Dave was my perfect model, a perfect paw print was captured on the paper, wonderful!
Chas!
Well Chas my other border collie had other ideas. He just did not want his paw wiped with the magic ink wipe. Every time I held his paw he withdrew it and eventually walked off in disgust.
He jumped up onto our bed and both John and I looked at each and slowly walked in murmuring lovely things about Chas as well as offering his favourite liver treats. He was having none of it!
We tempted him again and this time he moved closer to us and I managed to get one paw held gently whilst murmuring sweet nothings in his pointed ear.
Yes he fell for it, one paw wiped, but…. Trying to put that same paw onto the special paper was another issue. The first print on the paper was a very long smear! We tried again quickly before he escaped …. This print was just like a large tuft of fur had been wiped onto the paper!
We decided to leave him alone for a while and try to catch him whilst stood on the floor or sitting!
This wasn’t easy! Chas is a very intelligent dog with an extremely long memory!
We managed to get him settled sitting next to me giving him a long loving stroke and John managed to wipe a front paw and press it gently onto the fifth piece of paper.
Yay! A paw print! Not perfect but a paw print!
The rest has been relatively easy.
Not only can your pets paw prints be made in silver but babies and toddlers foot and hand prints too!
